The Foundation for Inclusive Religious Education provides children with special needs the opportunity for an inclusive Catholic education in their home parish schools. The Foundation is seeking a part time (20 hours/week) OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR to manage data entry, book keeping and clerical task and to assist with miscellaneous projects. FIRE is a non-profit organization that provides financial grants to qualifying schools within the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph to assist with the cost of special education teachers, para educators, materials and equipment.  FIRE’s mission is to provide children with special needs the opportunity for an inclusive Catholic education in their home parish schools.

FIRE seeks to hire an Office Administrator to perform administrative and clerical functions. The Office Manager is a part-time (20 hours/week) position and reports to the Executive Director. The Office Administrator is expected to manage multiple tasks and be able to organize, prioritize and meet project deadlines. Successful candidates should be service-focused, friendly, and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively. Attention to detail is essential. This position is best suited for an individual who thrives in a mission-driven environment.

Preferred Work Experience and Education

Þ      Understanding of and exposure to nonprofit work environments.

Þ      High school diploma required, college degree preferred. Experience in book keeping and records management are a plus.

Þ      Experience and/or interest in education for children with special needs is helpful.


Þ      Process donor gifts and prepare tax letters.

Þ      Prepare monthly report for FIRE accountant and assist in compiling other data and/or reports as needed.

Þ      Manage and maintain donor database software (Donor Perfect).

Þ      Interact with donors, partners and volunteers in a friendly and professional manner.

Þ      Participate in staff meetings and planning sessions.

Þ      Provide administrative support to FIRE staff as needed including phone reception, website updates, file maintenance, correspondence and meeting scheduling.

Þ      Support staff and volunteers as needed, to ensure success of Bonfire, Golf Tournament, FIRE Starter Breakfast and other events.

Þ      Communicate as needed with Friends of FIRE, Board, volunteers and partner schools.

Þ      Maintain office supplies.

Þ      Other duties as assigned and / or deemed necessary.

Part-time, flexible based on current office needs, 20 hours per week. Weekly hours may increase occasionally, especially during weeks leading up to major events.
