Engaging the Disengagement Dilemma

Session Description

Student disengagement is an increasing concern. More than half of students report they are “disengaged most of the time” and educators report higher levels of disengagement following the pandemic. More students are “unmotivated,” “uninterested,” and/or “non-compliant,” leaving teachers with quite a dilemma. However, student engagement is a complex variable with a profound effect on student success and the classroom environment. This interactive keynote provides an overview of the contributing factors–both student and teacher directed. It explores engagement from multiple perspectives and outlines practical, evidence-based strategies to increase engagement-related behaviors. Engage the disengagement dilemma!
